Last night (Tuesday) a polled Simmental cow with a bull calf at foot fetched the top price of $15,000 at the Savannah Simmentals and Simbrahs Rocky Red Sale.
Also on Tuesday night, buyers from three states acquired the proven genetics on offer at the Beef 2024 Elders Signature Wagyu cattle and genetics sale which topped at $60,000.
A saleyard price premium for Fleckvieh cattle has driven a family who has traditionally shown Droughtmasters to swap breeds at Beef Australia.
TUESDAY MAY 7
ALL TUESDAY STUD CATTLE RESULTS:
While it didn't quite happen on Tuesday, the action did continue into the night on Monday, when the Rabobank Beef Industry Awards were held. Congratulations to all the winners, including Adam Coffey who won the coveting Queensland Country Life Red Meat Achiever Award!
At the same time, the commercial cattle championships were underway, where the Quinn family at Middlemount took out the most successful exhibitor among a host of other prizes.
The sun was setting as the junior led steer competition wrapped up on Monday, but you can read all about it right here.
In quirkier news, this morning we delivered a review of the Wagyu ice cream on offer at Beef.
The Brahman judging kicked off first on Tuesday, at a bright and early 7.30am. See who we snapped around the ring!

MONDAY MAY 6
Beef 2024 really kicked into gear, with the commercial championship up this morning, with Needmor Droughtmasters walking away with the big win.
It wouldn't be Beef without a political announcement, and this year it was both sides of Queensland politics who showed up to show their support and offer some future funds.
Slightly smaller in stature to the politicians was George Streeter, Taroom, who at just ten years of age walked away with the trophy for overall champion parader.
It was Downlands College who walked away with the trophy when they won the junior school's team judging on Monday afternoon.

SUNDAY MAY 5
Sunday was a busy day one at Beef, with plenty of socialising to be done!
The Off the Lead stud cattle exhibitors meet and greet was no exception, check out our photos!
A Downlands student took out the first big top gong of Beef, with her success at the commercial young judges.
Meanwhile, a NSW teenager made the trip up to Rockhampton in hopes networking would help her find her dream job.
